Summer in Sammamish!?!
It's like it went from February to July in a week! It's hot. It's sunny! Break out the sprinklers and sunblock! For a little while anyway.

Sleeting in Sammamish
I am looking out my back window. The buds on the trees are popping out. The Irises are blooming. And NOW, it decides to snow/sleet/white precipitation/whatever. On March 28th.

To Market, To Market
The Sammamish Farmer's market logo winner has been announced. Janelle Shuey of Sammamish created the winning entry. The brand new Sammamish Farmers market will have it's grand opening Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 from 4-8 pm.
I am very excited! I envision riding my bike with my kid trailer in tow and coasting back down the hill with my son in the trailer surrounded by fresh heirloom tomatoes, sugar snap peas and oodles of fruit. He will likely finish the blueberries off before we are half way home.
The market will be held in the Sammamish Commons at City Hall every Wednesday until October 1, 2008. I am thrilled they picked a Wednesday--I never seem to get to Issaquah or Redmond for the Saturday markets. It's nice they have the hours in the afternoon and evening. This will likely be a new social event for Sammamish. Can someone say "Beer Garden" with childcare?

McAuliffe is Puking
There's a stomach flu sending home kids at McAuliffe Elementary this week. While not confirmed, one teacher said that 55 kids were sent home with it yesterday morning and a few more in the afternoon. That number may not be accurate, but four children were sent home with it from just one class.
It seems to be a classic stomach bug -- fever and all.
Today, was much better.
Smith and Blackwell Elementary Schools haven't been hit, while Mead sent home a couple kids with it yesterday.
Could this be another Norovirus outbreak like the one last year at Blackwell? Let's hope not. Meanwhile, wash your hands and pop that acidophilus.
